Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why should I use CO control instead of O2?

1. CO Controls directly on process variable of concern, which is combustibles.
Since CO is the precursor to combustibles, controlling with CO insures none.

2. Across-the stack measurement of CO.
CO catches the worst burner in the heater .O2 measures a single point thus the burner below the sample point.

3. High sensitivity to combustion: 0 to 0.1% (1000 ppm).
Bambeck CO measurement is more sensitive than a combustible measurement. It Controls far below any Lower Explosive Limit (LEL).

4. Fast Analyzer & Control Strategy.
The Bambeck CO analyzer detects 0.15 of a second and the heater specific algorithm controls CO before a problem can occur. It catches fuel BTU swings, and adjusts appropriately.

5. Air leakage is not a significant factor with CO control
Furnace tramp air leaks are a major problem with O2 measurements and thus O2 control.

Q: What does Bambeck Systems do differently than others to achieve CO based control on a long-term basis?

Bambeck Systems includes the entire scope necessary to accomplish the savings initially promised.

This in summary is:

1. All needed hardware including, but not limited to, the light-beam CO analyzer.

2. The control strategy implemented in the DCS or our stand-alone PLC.

3. Combustion engineering to provide the training and support to achieve and keep CO control on-line.
